SMEC Internship

SMEC is looking for South African jobseekers to apply for the position of Graduate
Engineer. Successful applicants will be responsible for supporting engineers in technical design,
drafting technical reports, supervising small teams, and ensuring project tasks are completed on
time and within budget.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Draft high-quality technical reports
  • Supervise small teams of technicians and draughtsmen
  • Suggest practical and efficient technical solutions
  • Represent your work in presentations and meetings
  • Adhere to established work procedures
  • Complete assigned tasks within set time and budget
  • Gain knowledge of local technologies and markets
  • Inspect construction work for compliance with designs
  • Assist with bid preparation
  • Train team members in relevant software tools
  • Organize meetings, prepare agendas, and compile minutes
  • Assist engineers with design checks, costing, and specifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor of Engineering degree/higher from an accredited institution
  • 0–3 years of work experience
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to work in a multi-disciplinary team environment
